For more than a decade, TOTEM Learning Center has been providing special education programs for students with learning disabilities. Now we have expanded to become TOTEM Learning Center and Day School. Approved by the Arizona Department of Education as a Supplemental Education Service (SES) provider for Maricopa County, TOTEM is now additionally approved as a special education Private Day School. We provide special education programs for students' IEP contracts for several school districts in Arizona and academic therapy for students referred by leading educational psychologists and physicians.

Totem Learning Center Facts

• TOTEM Learning Center provides private 1:1 instruction.
• TOTEM Day School provides a unique classroom of 3:1 instruction.
• All teachers have experience working with learning disabled students and have degrees in several areas including cross-categorical, special education, and reading specialist certification.
• Instruction is individualized and customized using the Orton-Gillingham direct, structured, sequential, repetitive, and multi-sensory approach.
• TOTEM uses research-based curricula that incorporate an integrated approach to literacy, mathematics, and cognitive processing skills.
• Academic goals are benchmarked and monitored frequently for progress using AIMSweb (progress monitoring program).
• An educational "team" approach with teachers, parents, and other related professionals is emphasized.
• Teachers participate in annual learning disabilities conferences and curricula training programs for continuous quality improvement.
• TOTEM is a member of the International Dyslexia Association and Arizona branch of the International Dyslexia Association.
