3:1 Student Teacher Instruction
TOTEM Day School includes students with learning disabilities and other learning disorders in grades K-12th. Our low student teacher ratio of 3:1, enables more direct customized classroom interventions for students who have not responded to traditional pull-out or containment programs.
TOTEM's goal is to provide the academics and skills needed for students with learning differences to return to their regular classrooms quickly and successfully.
Our teachers have special education degrees with classroom experience. They are trained in the multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham approach and use a variety of research-based curricula to achieve the best outcomes.
Unique School Features:
- Four hours of 3:1 private instruction focus on reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics while following the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
- The full school day also includes physical education, fine arts, social skills, science, and social studies.
- Researched-based curricula using multi-sensory, structured, sequential, and cognitive teaching methods are implemented.
